The CareGiver Community is devoted to building alternatives to institutional care of our elderly and disabled. We aim to provide solutions and support for people who are faced with caring for aging or disabled relatives and loved ones unable to care for themselves alone.

Our mission is twofold. The first is to offer support and resources to individuals currently in a caregiving situation or planning to be in the near future. The second is to bring together like minded people looking for longer term solutions outside the traditional nursing home model.

Caregiving involves a wide range of emotional, spiritual, financial, and technical resources and can be overwhelming for most of us, as we usually find ourselves thrust into it unexpectedly. A small bit of preparation coupled with the support and encouragement of others in the same situation can prevent months or years of suffering and grief and thousands of dollars in financial loss.

The CareGiver Community is not beholden to any corporate or government entity, and is part of the larger SafeGate Community of websites devoted to providing safe, family friendly resources in a wide range of areas.
